Drone Monitoring Services

Our surveillance aerostat system can be utilized to monitor for and deter rogue drone operations.

Drone Detection System

The danger of terrorists using drones to threaten public gatherings or VIPs is a top priority for most security agencies around the world. Monitoring small, fixed-wing, and multi-copter drones is nearly impossible with current radar. Many UAV’s can fly at tree top altitudes or within urban canyons. (See for example the 43-mile path, which the Gyrocopter pilot took through America’s tightest security zones). A high-resolution, low-altitude, optics platform, that can see in all directions, at all times, is a necessity for documenting the path, which an illegal drone has taken.

AirPhotosLIVE.com has developed a partial response to this high priority need which Congress and Homeland Security describe as “urgent.” Part of the solution involves commissioning our tethered, surveillance, aerostat, which carries a proprietary, 9-Eye, camera cluster, or acoustic sensors, and RF detecting sensors. This aerial platform has 16 years of evolution and use above NYC, Washington DC and San Francisco.

With our multi-camera payload, it can capture high resolution still images. The cameras simultaneously trigger every few seconds using a timer or ground based photographer. They can clearly cover views of the surrounding landscape in a full 360° sphere. This is critical because it prevents any blind spots. Unlike a manned helicopter trying to cover the entire landscape with a single camera, this payload captures all direction all the time. From one tethered balloon, we can cover about 9 square blocks—the size of a major outdoor public protest, rally or religious event.
Unlike most aerial platforms, our system has been granted a Certificate of Authorization by the FAA for locations above Washington. Our silent, moored system can stay aloft for the entire duration of a large public event. For many solemn events it is inappropriate to have the noise and distraction of a manned helicopter above the crowd. Additionally a tethered balloon seen floating near an event may provide a strong deterrent effect for would be drone operations.

The aerial documentation of the landscape before and during major public events provides an important record of nearly all incoming low altitude unmanned aerial vehicles. This aerial documentation service is not meant to provide live video downlinks. Its purpose is not to take aggressive action against an unlawful drone. Our goal is to provide clear evidence to investigators should there be an accident or attack with a drone. Like most security cameras, this aerial one helps determine where a drone was launched from or where it eventually landed after committing a crime.

This is a low cost, high resolution solution with a superior perspective. It frees up other expensive, short duration platforms such as helicopters, satellites, and rooftop cameras.

Detering Drones Near AirportsRunway Incursion Prevention

Drones can cause catastrophic damage to jets and terrorize major airports, as can be seen with the recent events at Gatwick Airport. For this reason DDIS (dba) UAV-monitoring.com offers TSA the ability to actively survey airport runways from elevated positions. Our mobile-mast and command center trailer, when stationed near airports, deters aerial threats from unmanned aerial vehicles. Specifically, we can provide the ability to elevate powerful optical (and other) sensors 15m high to provide 360° coverage. At this superior height, line-of sight is dramatically increased, which increases the ability for spotting, photographing, and reporting rogue drone incursions around airports.

Located within the safe distance of specific runways, our turnkey, mobile, surveillance systems can cover vulnerable take off and landings . These systems, when coupled with DDIS staff (or staff-training), provide a superior surveillance tool for deterring rogue drone operations.

Elevated Surveillance Platform Capabilities:

TRAILER CAPABILITIES
Climate-controlled command center reduces crew fatigue during 24/7 deployments.
50’ EO/IR periscope mast with guy wires, which allow elevated surveillance platforms to operate in up to 40mph winds.
Elevated observation deck improves staffs situational awareness with ability to look and listen in 360 degrees from 17ft off the ground.
240 v generator, 120 and 12 voltages allows redundancy and longer missions.
Our mobile observation trailer can be towed at 60 mph, and set up for elevated RC/IR/EOS observations within 9 minutes of arrival.
Fiber optic, coax, RS-232 or wireless connection from the mast to trailer-based monitoring station

OPTICAL SURVEILLANCE
Elevated remotely controlled 50’ EO/IR periscope with powerful remotely controlled range finder binoculars. The data can be can be sent to TSA, FBI, or other airport security teams.
State of the art 40“ HD display screens in dark room enhances ability discern small and distant drone images.
Dedicated Artificial Intelligence algorithms to help classify common drone shapes (up to 1km). (AI training not included)

AUDIO SURVEILLANCE
Optional “big ear” acoustical listening and recording device to improve ability to hear incoming drones. (Type and cost is TBD)

RF SPECTRUM SURVEILLANCE
Elevated Radio Spectrometer antennas increases chance to detect the location of drones/ drone pilots. (Type and cost is TBD)

VISIBILITY DETERRENT
Mobile Command center FAA red and white strobe lights, rooftop “Security” signage and powerful search light helps illuminate and potentially deter stealth drone attacks near runways at night.

RADIO REPEATERS
Mast-based (or moored balloon-based ) encrypted radio repeaters to keep pilots and airport security communications staff connected when deployed at distant runway stake out locations

COUNTER DRONE MEASURES
DDIS mobile field office can help host some of client’s counter drone equipment. This includes 220 v power supply and stealth elevated turret mounts for “RF Jamming” equipment.
DDIS’s catapult for safe rapid launch of “chaser” drones, or small 20 lb Radar dishes mounted to 49ft. panning masts.

MARITIME COVERAGE
Since most major international airports are near maritime ports UAV-Monitoring offers rapidly deployed Mil Spec boat for shallow water patrols.
Powerful stabilized range finding binoculars can be handheld or mounted on our 10 meter portable mast for an elevated survey of shallow coastal areas in heavy winds.

AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY360° Field of View (HFOV) Coverage

Our custom camera clusters cam shoot in multiple directions at once, providing an effective 360° field of View (FOV). This can be set up for forensic documentation or live encrypted video downlink, depending on the Client’s needs.
