Architectural Visual Simulation ServicesVisual Impact Simulations and Renderings

From basic model-massing renderings to “photo-realistic“ simulations of proposed structures. We’ve got you covered!

Architectural Visual Simulation Services

Architects, visualization experts, zoning approval boards, and developers all benefit when accurate preliminary massing studies are performed in the field. The selection and construction of a new development requires public officials and the local community to fully understand the visual impact trade-offs and design alternatives. To this end, DDIS specializes in balloon tests and visual impact simulations, which are often required to give a general sense of a proposed structure. The balloon tests give a physical demonstration of visibility and sight-lines, and the visual impact simulations overlay a model of the proposed structure over a high-resolution aerial photograph, showing the proposed structure with the existing backdrop.

Substation and Converter Station Simulations

• Unbiased visual impact studies to both utility companies and community / government organizations. We attempt to provide as accurate a representation of the proposed structure’s impact, regardless of the Client’s agenda.
• Analysis from places and homes visually affected by proposed structures.
• Simulations of a transfer and converter station’s visual impact prior to construction.
• Identification of properties impacted by the new infrastructure and tools to calculate property devaluation due to the impact.
• Tower siting services, which determine the best tower locations and power line route alternative through a fair and unbiased visual impact study.
• Mitigation services, which includes: landscape designing, planted vegetation growth simulations, and structural camouflaging implementation.
• Public and private balloon tests.
• Expert witness testimony services.
• Aerial 360° Reverse Line-of-Sight interactive media from the tops of key structures as a means to instantly capture and present the maximum visual impact of a structure on its environment.

Water Tower and Ground Tank Simulation Services

DDIS Specializes in balloon tests and visual impact simulations of proposed water tanks and towers. Zoning officials have vested interests in assuring that proposed large scale water tank facilities conform to zoning and height specifications, while nearby residents are concerned about maintaining the character of the neighborhood. To this end DDIS offers professional landscape architectural simulations that allow stake-holders to evaluate and approve proposed tanks before any construction occurs. This proposal demonstrates the client’s key specifications while suggesting a specific testing methodology for an accurate, defensible study and set of deliverables. DDIS will work diligently to confirm that the proposed deliverables meet the Client’s goals and deadlines.

Electric Power Transmission Line Simulations

Using its specialized tethered aerostat (moored balloon), Digital Design & Imaging Service provides:

• Tower siting services, to determine the best tower locations and power line routes
• Unbiased visual impact studies to both utility companies and community / government organizations. We attempt to provide as accurate a representation of the proposed structure’s impact, regardless of the Client’s agenda.
• Simulations of the transmission line towers’ (pylons’) visual impact when constructed.
• Analysis from places and homes visually affected by various structures and route alternates.
• Identification of properties impacted by the transmission and tools to calculate property devaluation.
• Visual impact mitigation services, including: landscape designing, planted vegetation growth simulations, and structural camouflaging implementation.
• Expert witness testimony services.

Wind Turbine, Power Plant, and Wind Farm Simulations

• Balloon based scouting of multiple possible sites.
• Elevation-based wind measurements at each site.

After the sites have been determined, DDIS can provide simulations of proposed wind turbines’ and wind farms’ visual impacts:
• Line-of-sight cross-sections and visibility maps.
• Seasonal changes and vegetation growth estimates.
• Shadow coverage areas and animation of shadow flicker.
• Developments of camouflage schemes and other impact mitigation options.
• Public visibility tests, including demonstration of required FAA lighting and expected acoustic impact.

TelecomRadio and Cellular Tower Visual Impact Simulations

• Determine Visual Impact of the proposed cell site or radio tower.
• Provide proprietary 360° “reverse-line-of-sight” aerial visual impact study photography
• Simulate the coverage area of the proposed tower by lofting RF propagation devices
• Mitigation and Design of camouflage options
• Simulation of guyed, self-supporting lattice, monopoles, and monopines.
• Calculate and Simulate light-pollution related to any FAA-required strobe lights
• Tower Location Siting
• Provide Path Analysis services
• Client-support during community outreach meetings
• Assistance with Regulatory Review and Permitting
• Expert Witness Testimony

Data Center Visualization Services

DDIS specializes in balloon tests and visual impact simulations, which are often required to give a general sense of a proposed structures, such as Data centers. This includes potential mapping and visualizing fiber lines, transmission lines, substations, transportation centers, etc. The balloon tests give a physical demonstration of visibility and sight-lines, and the visual impact simulations overlay a model of the proposed structures over a high-resolution aerial photograph, showing the proposed structure within the existing backdrop.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Simulation Services

Through its ability to fly over land and water at extremely low altitudes, and in highly-secured airspace, DDIS’ aerostat camera systems are able to capture imagery and survey data that could not otherwise be gathered through other conventional commercial methods. This versatility is especially useful when documenting facilities, including centralized water and wastewater treatment facilities, that by design, must be on the water.
Additionally, DDIS has experience determining and simulating the visual impact of facility renovations and operations.
